Question by BELLA: Where to visit on in Bali, Indonesia?
I live in France and am going to Bali at the end of July for 15 days.
I’m travelling alone and am interested in seeing beautiful beaches, mountains or cultural sites.
I’m not that interested by Kuta for example. I think I’d rather visit Gili and Ubud. What are the nicest places to visit in Bali?
P.S. Hotel reccommendations are welcome (25 euros per night / 40 AUS$ )
Gabby: I’ve already checked out a few places on the internet, middle range around 40 dollars a night, you’ve obviously never been to the place to say that. Even in Paris, you can find hotels at 40 dollars!! SO I think that Bali shouldn’t present a problem for budget hotels…

$ 40 a night, good luck. the cheapest might be $ 80 because its a tourist destination.
I’m guessing you have been to Bali before..
I highly recommend dreamland.. it’s a quite beach with a beautiful view and also go to garuda wisnu kencana.. it’s a cultural site.
it’s really nice view.. but july is high season, there’ll be lots of tourist.
about the hotel, i’m sure there’ll be lots of budget hotel around kuta.
oh, nusa dua also have nice beach but it surrounded by five star hotels..
There are many hotels in Ubud, Candidasa, Singaraja providing comfortable accommodation at special rates. You can find the USD 40.00 per room per night room rates and even cheaper than that.
You can check them on http://www.bali-travelnet.com and some other in http://www.hotels68.com
Sound is great! Please see my web at below

Hi,
Wonder if you do know that Gili islands is located off Lombok, it is not off Bali. You would need to a transport to Padang Bai for a ferry to Lembar, Lombok. Once in Lombok, another ferry to Gili..
If you are interested in beautiful beaches, mountains & just sights.. There is plenty of places for you to visit in both Bali & Lombok..
For beautiful beaches in Bali,
1- Kuta (its a little too crowded, but beautiful sunset & fine soft sands)
2- Lovina (secluded black sand beach, option to go for a morning dolphin sighting with the locals.)
3- Dreamland (a beach off the south of Bali, get directions from a local on how to get there.)
In Lombok,
1- Senggigi (a quiet beach near the captial Mataram, not possible to surf here.)
2- Kuta (surf beach, almost like Bali- Kuta. But quiet & unspoilt.)
If looking to climb some mountains in both Bali & Lombok,
1- Mt Batur (day trek, it real beautiful & cold when you do the sunrise trek)
2- Mt Agung (day trek)
3- Mt Rinjani (3days/2nights trek, for ease of arrangments. Try engaging the services of Lombok Network for the trek.)
For both Mt Batur & Mt Agung sunrise trek, a lot of ‘tour-booth’ in Bali would be able to provide that. Just remember to bargain over the price.. if you are interested, let me know.. Would be able to ask a friend to provide discounts..
You are looking for nice mid-range places in Kuta or other places?
If in Kuta/ Legian, would recommend couple of nice locations;
1- Bamboo Bed & Breakfast Legian.
http://www.bamboolegian.com/
2- Puri Tanah Lot Hotel
http://www.puritanahlothotel.com/default.asp
In Ubud, or maybe other places like Candidasa think it would be better if you could search online.. Not too familar with those areas for hotels < 40AUD$ .. Sorry..
For these two beautiful islands, if not enjoying the surf.. Maybe you like to try diving.. Plenty of great dive sites @ theses two islands, especially Gili..
hehe you’ll find some hotels at $ 20 USD but other rip offs included..
i would say if you are a marijuana smoker, gili would be alright, because its good quality and easy to get, also the snorkeling is great there, i reccomend Gili Trawangan..
If you are not too interested by Kuta, i agree, Ubud is a nice place, but take a drive out in the country side, and visit the local markets down in Singaraja, its quite nice..
The beaches in Sanur are nice and pretty chill, but don’t go to Pengembak Beach in Sanur, because it is very dirty in some areas.. and there are alot of foreign people all the time in Sanur, i would say the best time to take a stroll is around 4-5 pm when it’s not so hot..
And you should buy a map, to help you get around…
Also a tip when buying things, if they think you are a tourist they will charge a very high price, so lets say you are at a store and some guy tries to sell you some sun glasses for 100,000.rp ($ 10 USD) you can probably negotiate the price down to 40,000.rp($ 4) or less, and don’t be too afraid to walk away because i guarantee they will lower the price..
a majority of the goods are poor quality so you shouldnt be overpaying for poor goods..
hope i helped, and have fun on your trip to bali it’s a nice place!
I’ve been to Bali a number of times. And I found the site http://www.balifriendly.com/ most helpful. Since then they prices seem to have gone up a bit, but stilll there are some deals to be had, and in all areas of Bali
1 little warning though: they have a separate part of the website fro “alternative lyfestyles” meaning gay. Unless you want to go to a “clothes optional” or gayfriendly hotel, avoid that part. the hotels on the main site are “normal” hotels
And as for experiences, the things I liked the most was visiting the fish restaurants on the beach in Jimbaran, so unexpected and lovely. of course there are all the temples, all are very beautiful.
And almost all asians are crazy about it. They say you haven’t been to Asia if you haven’t eaten a durian
when in season you can get them anywhere, but there is a smal village between kuta and bedugul temple where you can get them all year round
And maybe 1 more experience that I think you should try: eat Durian! It’s the strangest fruit in the world, smells horrible, but tastes quite nice
Hope that helps
enjoy!
for the hotel you can stay on Nusa dua bali..
its nice..

for other places :
Gianyar > Monkey Frorest.. you can saw monkey there
Batubulan > Daily barong dance performance, fine stone carvings, furniture, terracotta pots.
Jimbaran: Southwest Bali, fisherman village, beach, sunset, offshore reefs > Eat. just go to Cafe Bali there..
Tanah Lot: Dramatic ocean front temple, spectacular sunset, snake filled cave.
Ubud: Haven for the arts, paintings, lush rice fields, museums, galleries, dances.
More Information:
-The average tourist spends less than $ 100 per day for everything: food, accommodation, souvenirs, etc.
im half european half balinese and i know that there are alot of budget hotels by kuta beach for about 300 000 rupiahs there is also a nice little resort in Lovina, singaraja called baruna
Kuta beach is too crowded so try to go away from there. My uncle also has a hotel in ubud its a good hotel and quite cheap im not quite sure of the price though
