I guess it is because right here you uncover a magnificent fusion of tradition and modernity in a friendly (and cheap) atmosphere. I can’t feel how great it is to sleep sound in your wonderful hotel, consume gorgeous food, see extraordinary sights and pay so tiny. I’ll commence with the hotel. As Charlotte and I are celebrating 4 years of becoming with each other we splashed out on a 15 pound space, this is high-priced by Bali standards, but middle of the road for anyplace else we’ve been. We’re enjoying a large space, with hot water, veranda, air-con, pool, breakfast and a pet gecko the size of a cat nesting in our room. Anywhere else we’ve been would be charging double (we’re lucky it’s low season). Typically such ritzy locations are totally devoid of culture, not right here. On our 1st night we took in a standard Balinese dance show. Frankly it was fairly weird. The haunting music was accompanied by sinister hunting monsters that jerked about using stylish hand gestures and wild leg movements. The show lasted about an hour and was really worth every single penny (despite the fact that an English penny right here is worth about .000000588 Rupiahs).
