. Went to an Elephant cave temple in Bedulu (a temple carved into the stone cliff), they also had buddah’s there but one was stolen and the other head broke off, money well spent not! Klungkung where the Ancient court of King Justice is along with the museum. Saw lots of traditional wood-carvers and plenty of art, each village specialises in different trades and have a uniqueness of their own. Rice is grown like you wouldnt believe it, there are plenty of rice terraces – loads and loads apparently they do not even export it it is just for the islanders; they have it for breakfast, lunch and supper!! now that is a lot of rice eating! Dancing, Kecak and Barong: watched a few of the local dances, semi plays – they are amazing, lots of chanting, serious faces plus some funny bits in, one part showed a man spanking another mans bottom with some wood and another where he was dressed as a monkey with his tail between his legs and on his back making out that it was his “you know what!!!” very good though. Med dance and chant round the fire. Visited the lake and volcano at Kintamani but as it was so misty and rain in the hills I couldnt see much! Doh. “More temples in Gods island” Josep7778′s photos around Seminyak, Indonesia
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Seminyak, Indonesia by TravelPod blogger Josep7778 titled “More temples in Gods island” Josep7778′s travel blog entry: “Get up at 6:00 am, long walk on the beach, watching early surfers, and arrive at 7:00 at hotel for breakfast in the pool. Meet guide and into the car for more sightseeing. Today we are visiting the east part of the island. It is not as wild and spectacular as the center part, but there are lots of things to see, so let’s start! First stop: Goa Gajah (the elephant cave). The name comes from a mistake made by its discoverers. They saw the carvings at the entrance of the cave, and thought it was an elephant sculpture. I think they still don’t know what it is really… Nice sorroundings, photos, walking for stretching and go on. Next stop: Blahbatuh temple, very unknown for tourists. Nice but a little careless. Nothing more to comment. During the route, we find a lot of closed and abandoned hotels and restaurants, due to the terrorist attacks a few years ago, that made Bali lose all of their tourism for some years. A real shame! We arrive at Tampaksiring, where Tirta Empul temple is. This is a temple dedicated to its sacred waters, where lots of indhuist go for washing their sins by diving into these waters. We can see an indhuist ceremony (don’t know if marriage or what). Photos and go on. Stop for lunch at Kintamani, with spectacular views from the restaurant of Batur volcano and lake. Nice views, good …
